Integrated draft ESIA report has been developed


    Energy Resources LLC (ER) is planning to implement the Phase II of the Ukhaa Khudag (UHG) Project which includes sub-projects such as an expansion of the existing UHG coal mine and related infrastructure, expansion of worker accommodation facilities, and construction of a coal handling and preparation plant, power generation facilities, a ground water abstraction field, an airstrip and a coal export railway to China.
 

    An integrated draft Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report has been prepared jointly by Environmental Resources Management (ERM), together with Sustainability East Asia LLC (Sustainability) and supported by JEMR Consulting LLC and Development Era NGO in line with requirements of international financial institutions.


    The purpose of the ESIA is to assess the environmental and social baseline in the Project-affected area and to make projections on likely environmental and social impacts of the Project. Based on these potential impacts, the ESIA sets out how these impacts will be addressed in planning, financing and implementation, through establishing a set of mitigations and management steps.

 
     The draft ESIA is now being disclosed to Project stakeholders and the public in compliance with EBRD guidelines and in line with international best practices.
