Energy Resources’ approach to sustainability is defined in our Sustainable Development Policy Statement. We believe that sustainable development is based on mutually reinforcing pillars of environmental stewardship, community development and economic contribution. In achieving the above, our sustainable development policy is integrated with business processes and good corporate governance practices at every level of operation.
Respect for human rights, open and meaningful engagement with the stakeholders, fairness, transparency and accountability are the main principles which guide us in implementing this policy. In our day-to-day operations we strive to meet international standards on occupational health and safety, environmental management and corporate social responsibility /www.iso.org/.
We adhere to the principles of financial transparency and have been supporting Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), which Mongolia joined in 2010. In compliance with the EITI, we submit annual reports to the Mongolia EITI Secretariat /http://www.eiti.mongolia.mn/ and other relevant bodies.
In order to avoid human rights abuse directly through our operations or indirectly through our contractors and suppliers, we implement human rights program and organize trainings for our staff and contractors to build awareness and increase their knowledge on human rights. We also adhere to security practices based on the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights /www.voluntaryprinciples.org/.
While supporting mutually beneficial cooperation with our suppliers, we do not employ forced or child labor.
To conduct open and constructive dialogue with the communities in which we operate and ensure the community members’ right to information on our activities, we organize annual open days and public consultation events. We have community grievance mechanism and procedures in place and inform the complainant about the decision made as required by the relevant legislation.
We support Partnering against corruption initiative (PACI) by the World Economic Forum /http://www.weforum.org/issues/partnering-against-corruption-initiative/ and joined the national network along with its first supporting companies. As a member of PACI Mongolia, Energy Resources is committed to high standards of ethical business conduct.
